Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4: The Ultimate Android Experience

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 The Ultimate Android Experience

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 - The latest addition to Samsung's foldable smartphone line-up, the Galaxy Z Fold 4, is a device that promises to revolutionize the way we interact with our smartphones. This device aims to be more than just a phone, it's a tablet, a PC replacement, and a whole lot more. With a starting price of $1800, the device may not be for everyone, but for those who are looking for the ultimate Android experience, this might just be the device for you.

Design and Build Quality

The Galaxy Z Fold 4, when folded, looks like two phones glued together. It's not notably thinner than its predecessors, but it is the lightest foldable device to date, weighing just 263 grams. The device feels premium and substantial in the hand, thanks to its glass and metal design. Samsung has managed to reduce the hinge bulge and the outer bezels, making the device look better than ever. The back of the device has a smooth matte finish and the hinge is smaller than last year, making it more comfortable to hold.

However, it takes a bit of effort to unfold the device, and there's no spot to stick your finger in and start pulling the two halves apart. You'll need to have some nails, or you'll have to be careful not to be sweaty as the device can get a bit slippery. There can also be a slight creaking sound when unfolding it, but that's rare. Closing the device is smooth and easy and feels quite satisfying, thanks to a reassuring magnetic snap. The device has dual stereo speaker grilles, one on top and one on the bottom, and a USB Type-C charging port on the side. The volume keys and a power button with an embedded fingerprint scanner are also located on the side.

Cover Display

The cover display on the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is a tall 6.2-inch AMOLED screen that is capable of up to 120Hz refresh rate. Samsung has reduced the bezels around the display and there is no longer a hump to the left as the hinge is smaller than last year too. The cover display can be used for anything, from answering calls to replying to texts, browsing social media apps, and anything you wouldn't bother unfolding the device for. It's still a rather tall and not very wide display, but it's big enough for most tasks you may want to do without actually unfolding the device.

Folding Display

Unfolding the device reveals its gorgeous big 7.6-inch flexible display. The display is AMOLED, has a 120Hz refresh rate, and is very beautiful. Watching YouTube videos and movies, playing games, scrolling through social media apps, or browsing the web on this display is an absolute joy. It's cool to take a phone out of your pocket and be able to turn it into a tablet with a big display. The display is comfortable to hold, especially compared to a tablet, thanks to its smaller size and weight, and its squarish aspect ratio.

However, the flexible display still feels a bit softer than the average glass screen. It does support the S-Pen stylus though, so it won't scratch easily save from just your fingernails. There is a visible screen protector applied to the display with corners that don't fully reach the display's edges, and you shouldn't remove it. There's still a crease in the middle of the folding screen, it is visible when light hits it and you can definitely feel it, but it's not a big deal.

Multitasking Features and Performance

The Galaxy Z Fold 4 comes with many empowering multitasking features that allow you to do more with your device. One of the most notable features is the ability to run multiple apps simultaneously on the folding display, allowing you to multitask like never before. The device also supports Samsung's App Pair, which allows you to launch two apps at once with just one tap. This feature is particularly useful for tasks like watching a video while sending an email or taking notes while browsing the web.

The device is powered by the latest Snapdragon 888 processor, paired with 12GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of internal storage. This powerful hardware ensures that the device can handle even the most demanding apps and games with ease. The device also comes with a respectable battery life, allowing you to use it throughout the day without having to worry about running out of power.

Stylus Support and PC Replacement

The Galaxy Z Fold 4 also supports the S-Pen stylus, allowing you to take notes, sketch, or draw on the folding display with precision. The device also supports Samsung DeX, which allows you to use the device as a PC replacement. With DeX, you can connect the device to an external monitor, keyboard, and mouse, and use it like a regular computer. This feature is particularly useful for tasks like working on documents, presentations, or coding.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is an impressive device that offers a unique folding display and many empowering multitasking features. The device is a great choice for power users who are looking for the ultimate Android experience. However, the device does come with a high price tag and there are some issues with the hinge and the crease on the folding screen. Overall, it's an impressive device that offers a unique and innovative experience, but it's not for everyone.
